WV WATER COMPANY EMPLOYEE SHOT - One man is in custody and a woman is hospitalized after a shooting yesterday afternoon at a Charleston-based business.
Authorities say a worker at West Virginia American Water Company shot a co-worker in the back. An investigation is underway. The victim was conscious when emergency crews took her from the scene.
WOMAN KILLED IN CHARLESTON INTERSECTION - Charleston police were searching today for a man who they allege shot his girlfriend's mother at a West Side intersection. Joshua Howard, 18, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 36-year-old Tia Terrell.
Howard and his pregnant, 17-year-old girlfriend were talking near the intersection of Iowa Street and Fifth Avenue about 6 p.m. Monday when Terrell, the girl's mother, drove up and confronted Howard, according to Charleston Police.
Howard apparently pulled a handgun and shot the unarmed Terrell, in what was described as "an ongoing domestic situation" between Terrell and Howard.
GUNFIRE RAMPANT ON WEST SIDE - Through August and the early part of September, the West Side of Charleston has been beset by shootings.
Brandon Edwards, 19, and Monty Henry, 20, were shot to death on the parking lot of Clo & Mahone's Lounge on Seventh Avenue on Aug. 7. There were several shootings at Littlepage Terrace Apartments, which is across the street from Clo & Mahone's and the Go-Mart on Seventh Avenue.
Arrests have been made in the double shootings at Littlepage Terrace and the two incidents at Go-Mart.
