Twenty-year-old James Villers (pictured left) was served a warrant issued by the Grantsville Police Department Thursday evening, but officers said the man broke and ran when they attempted to issue the paper.
It appeared to be the second time Villers had fled from authorities.
Two police dogs reportedly chased Villers across a yard at a Big Root residence where he was visiting,
downing him and causing some injury to his arm and ear.
He was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center where he was treated and released.
Villers was charged with petit larceny by Grantsville Police Chief Ron Gordon on August 19, and was later charged with entry of an automobile and fleeing on September 14, according to magistrate court records.
Villers was arrested and taken to Central Regional Jail.
Several State Police officers went to the Big Root residence about 6 p.m. Thursday with Grantsville Police Chief Ron Gordon, including two officers who had canines, Sgt. T. F. Yanero and Sgt. R. L. Mefford.
Sr. Trooper J. B. Hunt and Chief Deputy Carl Ballengee also went to the scene.
