A two-day Hunter Safety Course was held over the weekend at the Grantsville VFD, with a large group of young people enrolling for the course. Organizers said the kids showed a lot of interest in the handling of guns and gun safety.
Included in the training was basic gun safety, firearms and ammunition information, the Hunter's role, hunting in wildlife management, conservation, hunter responsibilities, game care and wildlife laws.
Persons successfully completing the 10-hour course receive a Hunter Education Certification card from the Department of Natural Resources.
West Virginia law now requires persons who purchase their first hunting license after January 1, 1990 to successfully complete the Hunter Education Course. |
