JUDGE NIBERT DENIES BOND FOR COX - Several Appear For Arraignment

(09/18/2004)
Judge David Nibert denied bond yesterday for Christopher Cox, 19, who has been indicted for the murder of Russell Metz.

Nibert said he had little information on which to consider bonding Cox, indicating he is concerned that Cox might represent a danger to the community.

Cox made his motion for bond through his court-appointed attorney Shannon Baldwin.

Cox allegedly shot and stabbed Metz in a cabin near U. S. 33-119 at the Calhoun-Roane line.

At least eight individuals appeared in court for arraignment, some of them being indicted by a Calhoun grand jury last week.

Joseph J. Delesio, 50, formerly of Big Bend, plead not guilty to a charge of wanton endangerment. Delesio was indicated last week for an incident where he allegedly fired a weapon during a dispute at the Hilltop Inn on Route 5. One shot reportedly went through the bar's TV set.

Big Bend resident Sam Roberts, 40, plead guilty to 3rd offense DUI, which placed him in the state pen for a period of not less than one year or more than three years. He could be facing a $5000 fine.

Marvin Holstein of Arnoldsburg, who was indicted for the possession of four marijuana plants with intent to deliver, plead not guilty with his court appointed attorney Shannon Baldwin.
