State Police say first-degree murder and burglary charges are pending in Clay
County against Larry Thomas, who allegedly entered his former home near
Maysel and shot his estranged wife Nancy Nelson.
Thomas, 61, allegedly shot Nancy Nelson, 49, five times with a 9mm pistol in
the bedroom of the Maysel home they shared until three months ago when
they separated.
Thomas returned to Charleston where he reportedly took an overdose of pills
called police. He was hospitalized at CAMC. Police say he will survive the
overdose.
Nelson and Thomas had been married about two years.
