Jonathan Wayne Gosnell, 44, a short-lived resident of Mt. Zion has pled no
contest to a domestic battery charge. A domestic viloence petition was filed against him
by his wife Betty Jo Wilson Gosnell, which was later dismissed upon her motion. Authorities say he will be placed in
Central Regional Jail at Flatwoods for a period of one year. He was also fined
$100 and $87 in cost.
Gosnell was arrested about 2:30 a.m. on April 19 at his residence near the
911 Center. Calhoun County Sheriff Allen Parsons and other authorities
responded to what was described as a volatile situation. Gosnell, who listed
his birthplace as Ohio, had been married to Betty J. Wilson of Grantsville for
twenty days.
Police reports say Gosnell made serious threats to officers and several
people in the community, in addition to his wife.
The costs to Calhoun County for incarcerating Mr. Gosnell was given at
$15,877.
