Harley C. Jones, 87 of Leading Creek Community, Big Springs, died Saturday, April 28th. at his
residence.
Born at Freed, Calhoun County, he was a son of the late John and Samantha Mae Kerby Jones
Eagle. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II serving from 1942 to 1945. He was retired from
Ford Motor Company, Cleveland, Ohio and enjoyed farming.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Rhoda B. Richards Jones; two sons and daughters in law, Darl and Carol Jones of
Statesville, NC and Russell and Vicki Jones of Big Springs; three daughters and sons in law, Shirley and Douglas Taylor, Betty
and Eddie Jenkins all of Big Bend; Wanda and Keith Dye of Midland, NC; a step son and his wife, Don and Lula Welch of
Macon, GA; a step daughter and her husband, Carol and Thomas Ritchie also of Macon, GA.
Also surviving are two brothers, Lee Jones of Big Bend and Willard Jones of Corning, CA; three sisters, Alice Richards and
Mary Jones of Big Bend and Alma Lanham of Grantsville; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren and
11 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a step son, William F. (Bill) Welch and a granddaughter, Debra Taylor Fowler.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Hoy Chapel United Methodist Church, Big Springs. Reverend Larry
Jones will officiate. Interment will be in the Goodnight Cemetery, Big Bend. Friends may call at Stump Funeral Home,
Grantsville from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
