Robert Greenwald's controversial documentary film OUTFOXED - RUPERT MURDOCH'S WAR ON JOURNALISM, was released on August 6 in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D.C.
A selected showing has been scheduled in Spencer on August 26th at 7 p.m. at the downtown Committee On Aging building.
"Outfoxed" blows the lid off the Fox Network's cynical campaign to spin,
slant, and manipulate the news in favor of the Republican Party.
The film examines how media empires such as Rupert Murdoch's Fox News, have been running a "race to the bottom" in television news.
The film likewise exposes the dangers of huge corporations assuming control of the public airwaves and the public's right to know.
Filled with whistle-blowing internal memos, and "confessions" from Rupert
Murdoch's own former staff members, the film is being angrily denounced by
the right-wing media.
The film has shot to the very top of
Amazon.com's bestseller list.
In New York, "Outfoxed" broke
the weekend gross for the Quad Cinema, making it the best opening ever in
its 30-year existence.
Admission to the film is free to the Spencer showing. Free refreshments will be available.
