Morgantown, WV - August 11, 2004: State Director Jenny Phillips today announced that Rural Development has approved loan and grant funding in the amount of $210,200 for the City of Spencer, Roane County, WV. The assistance will be made through the Community Facilities program.
Rural Development funds will be used to purchase a new fire/rescue vehicle for the City's volunteer fire department. This new vehicle will replace an existing vehicle that has exceeded its useful service life.
"The City's volunteer fire department serves approximately 2,350 rural residents, therefore, this funding clearly depicts Rural Development's commitment to the future of rural communities in West Virginia," stated Phillips.
