BALL BATS AND BLOOD FLY ON CLAY'S MAIN STREET

(08/07/2004)
There were ball bats and blood on the streets of Clay yesterday, according to the Clay Communicator.

"Bubba and Brother Blankenship along with Earl Walls and Dennis Kotch got into a fracas that wound up inside the IGA store on Main Street."

There was no law enforcement around, including Clay's policeman "Buckshot Butcher," who has been fired and re-hired more times than anyone can remember.

IGAs Danny Sizemore pulled the fighters apart and sent them out the front door.

The Communicator says the fight continued to pick up steam on the street, with a crowd gathering to watch the ball bats fly.

The call for law enforcement was slow, according to the Communicator, because there are few cops in the county and a long string of cars was stopped to watch the excitement.

Magistrate Boggs said no arrest warrants had come through his office late in the evening.

A woman parked her van in front of the Christian Service Center in Clay to find it missing a few minutes later. Gone!
