The Creston area has continued to receive rain, much more than is usual for this time of year.

At press time the Ferrell family had not returned from their vacation which included a visit to a Corvette museum. They also had brake troubles but didn't get to meet and crunch anyone. Perhaps details will be available next week.

Some of the practicing members of the "Religion of Peace", a/k/a Mohammedans, blew up a number of churches in Iraq as sort of a symbolic gesture to show their choice for U. S. President. For sure they do not want anyone with resolve.

Charles Russell, who has never driven, received a second "personal" letter from AIG Insurance telling about all the money he can save if he switches companies for his car insurance. They said he would save $392.30 so if they mean what they say, Charlie should be getting a check in the mail real soon.

Grantsville real estate man Danny Law was attending to business in Creston.

Paul Williams brought the message at the Burning Springs M. E. Church. He is to be there when Rev. Juanita Lockhart and Rev. Carlos Nutter are not.

Nancy Hall did not receive a good report from her doctor. Her mother, Margie Hall, is not doing well either.

Margaret Dooley continues to get out and about. Some while back she was not given a very good chance for anything.

Some local residents were at D. Basil Cline's retirement party at the DOH garage in Elizabeth. He received a special 'helpful' gift which, no doubt, the banker lady will be proud.

It was learned that Donald Wilson's dog was killed by the DNR's coyotes but he found a wiener dog that he likes up on Leading Creek named Pug.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose Saturday to $40.50/bbl. However, some oil that was reported months back but only recently hauled was paid for at a much lower rate.

The Wirt County fair pageant is Friday evening August 6 at the High School in Elizabeth and the Wirt County fair begins on August 11. Then the Creston homecoming is Sunday August 15 in the afternoon at the Community Building in Creston. There should be plenty for all to do. Hopefully some nice young man will ask the Comely Redhead to accompany him to numerous of these events.
