Donald Lee Edgell, 71, passed away July 24, 2004 after a long courageous battle with cancer with his loving family by his side.
Born at Cremo, West Virginia, he was a member of Wadsworth Church of Christ, retired from Rockwell International, was currently employed by Manchester Tool Company, and was a Veteran of the Korean war.
He loved bluegrass music, was the best dobro player, and won many state championships. He played with Bluegrass Mountaineers and Earl Todd and the Sundown Mountain Boys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Rosa; brothers, Lora "Veon" and Jennings; and sister, Blondina Stutler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; sons at home, Joshua and Anthony; children, Melissa (Matthew) McAvinew, Linda (Lowell) Yeager, April (Randy) Edgell-Henline, Donald (Lorena) Edgell, Jr., Donna Jean (Eugene) Edgell, and Debbie (Arthur) Slymac; sisters, Betty (Dale) Smith, Mona Sampson, Emodee (Bruce) Starcher, and Irene Husk; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, Ohio. Additional calling hours will be Wednesday, July 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, WV.
Funeral services will Thursday, July 29 at 2 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Wright Cemetery.
