Schott Scientific Glass is "going global" - a phrase which now means their
plant and jobs are leaving Parkersburg and going abroad.
The plant which came to the region in the 1940s and known to regional
residents as Corning Glass, will close permanently in August with nearly 200
workers losing their jobs.
The plant once employed several hundred workers.
Plant operations are going to Germany, Spain and Brazil, according to the
company.
