Teen births have dropped 48 percent in West Virginia in the past two
decades.
The rate of babies born to teen mothers dropped from more than 1,400 to a
record low of less than 740 in 2002.
The West Virginia Vital Statistics were released based on births to girls ages
15 to 17.
Health officials attribute West Virginia's decreased rate to abstinence
programs and other prevention efforts regarding risky behaviors.
