Seven Calhoun County girls will be attending Alpha II 4-H State Camp this
coming week, July 18-23 at Jackson's Mill.
Jessie Cosgrove, Elizabeth Dusky, Maria Kisner, Arla Lane, Sarah Postalwait,
Anna Sampson, and Dana Thomas will be representing 4-H from Calhoun
County.
The cost of camp this year is $185.00, with a pre-registration savings of
$65.00. This made each scholarship $120.00.
A special thanks for this years scholarships goes to - Furr's Auto Sales, State
Farm Insurance, Stump Funeral Home and Special Friends of 4-H.
The purpose of camp is to provide 4-H members personal development
experiences to help better understand themselves, and to display more
personal confidence when assuming leadership positions.
West Virginia 4-H members entering 6th grade are recommended by the
county extension office to go to State Camp.
The local extension service continues an open invitation for kids to become
4-H members, in addition to seeking volunteer leaders or others who want to
make contributors to 4-H in Calhoun County. For information, contact the
Extension Office 354-6332.
