At least 63 former Army and National Guard troops from West Virginia will receive their call-up papers to support military missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The 63 are among the 5,600 the Army expects to call back to active duty between July and December.
Those called can expect to serve for 18 months to two years.
The call-up is the first sizable activation of the Individual Ready Reserve since the 1991 Gulf War, and reflects the Army's need for support staff to keep the combat numbers up to par.
Many of those being called recently left the service but have a military service obligation remaining.
Thirty-five members of the 167 member West Virginia Army National Guard's 146th Medical Company Air Ambulance from Parkersburg are in Indiana.
The troops left the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport yesterday afternoon after spending four days with their families.
