Calhoun resident John Manis Richards, 40, has ended his two year fight to be
extradited to Ohio to face abduction charges.
Richards turned himself over to Washington County, Ohio officials Monday after
seeking at least two West Virginia Supreme Court appeals and other stays on
his extradition.
Richard's problems stem from a 2002 incident at a Reno, Ohio car
wash where he allegedly was seen sexually gratifying himself in front of a
woman and her daughter, after which the charges say he opened their car
door and brandished a razor knife.
Richards has claimed it is a case of mistaken identity.
Richards was booked on two felony counts of abduction, a felony count of
attempted abduction, a misdemeanor count of coercion and two misdemeanor
counts of aggravated menacing.
He was also charged with public indecency by the Marietta Police Department,
after he allegedly exposed himself at McHappy's Bake Shoppe in Marietta.
Richards appeared in a Washington County, Ohio court yesterday where he
posted bond pending an appearance on July 12th.
Richards has also been facing charges in Calhoun Circuit Court over allegedly
stealing from several establishments.
