Calhoun's in-county Relay for Life, slightly dampened by the weather, concluded
at 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
The large fund raising event went on as usual, lasting through the night.
The "full of life" fighters against cancer came to Calhoun Middle-High School
Friday evening, moving the event from rain-soaked Wayne Underwood Field.
The luminaries were lit in memory and honor of loved ones and friends who have
had cancer and survivors and their friends continued the relay walk around the
high school gym.
While there was time to reflect on the hundreds of area residents taken by
cancer, there was great hope expressed by cancer survivors who are leading the
fight against the disease.
The "celebration of life" brought the Calhoun County community together in a
unified effort to fight cancer, with relay teams competing in their fund raising
down to the line.
One of the night's entertainment events was a Pretty Woman Contest, which
brought lots of enthusiasm from the crowd.
Entertainment was presented though out the night, adding to what was a
fun-filled event for participants.
