Freda Carpenter, 76, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Friday, June 11, 2004, in the
Miletree Center, Spencer.
She was born April 13, 1928, at Cicerone, a daughter of the late John
Floyd and Della Pearl Moore Ashby. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Carpenter; one brother, Lester
Ashby; one sister, Lucy Carpenter.
She was a homemaker and member of the Church of the Living God,
Spencer.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Carpenter of Spencer and
Barbara Cross of Apple Creek, Ohio; four sons, Randle Carpenter of Coloma,
MI, Ronnie, Johnny and Jimmy Carpenter all of Spencer; one brother,
Emzie Ashby of Palestine; seven sisters, Martha Jordan and Garnet Whited
both of Elizabeth, Sada Wales of Winter Park, FL, Virginia Carter of
Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Melissa Jane Mossor of Chester, Ada Shamblin of
Racine and Lizzie Moore of Reedy; sixteen grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, June 14 at 11 a.m. in the
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Howard Nichols
officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Herman Cemetery, Harmony.
