Marva Welsh Barker of Grantsville died April 15, 2001 in
Charleston Area Medical Center. She was born at Broomstick,
daughter of the late William Clarence and Leola Nell Whipkey
Welsh.
She was the former operator of Top of the Hill Tavern, was a
former employee of the Rainbow and 3-D Restaurants and was
a bartender at VFW Post 5959 and the Tanner Creek Bar. She
was a member of the Prince of Peace Church and the Ladies
Auxiliary of VFW Post 5959.
She is survived by son Billy "Biff" Barker of Grantsville. She was
preceded in death by her husband Bill Barker in 1981.
Catholic Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday
(April 21) at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation
will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
