Bicyclist struck on Phillip's Run near Grantsville

Accident sends 15-year-old to hospital

Two separate accidents sent five individuals to the hospital yesterday.

A 15-year-old Grantsville youth was injured when his bicycle went left of center and then collided with an auto, according to Sheriff Allen Parsons.

David Beech was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center by Calhoun EMS shortly before noon, suffering from turned out to be minor injuries. He was treated and released.

Beech was traveling north on State Route 16 on Phillip's Run near Grantsville, the auto was traveling south.

One or more individuals saw the accident happen in front of Stottlemyer's auction barn.

The Grantsville VFD also responded to the accident.

At least four individuals were taken to area hospitals following a collision at the Arnoldsburg "Y" yesterday evening.

A van and a car collided on U. S. 33-119, with three of the injured taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center and one victim taken to Roane General Hospital.

The names of the injured and their condition were not available. A spokesperson said critical injuries were prevented by the use of seat belts.

Calhoun EMS dispatched three ambulances to the scene. The Arnoldsburg VFD also responded. Trooper Jeff Hunt investigated.
