It's that time of year again. The vibrant colors of
spring are out in
full
force -- the green trees, blue skies, blaze orange
construction
barrels ...
That's right. West Virginia highways crews are
preparing for
another
season of road construction.
But there's a new addition this year.
The Division of Highways is unveiling new signs
this week designed
to catch motorists' eyes with a warning that people
are working
ahead.
The "Give 'Em A Brake" sign was designed in
response to the high
number of work zone accidents.
Last year there were 502 accidents in work zones
between April
and November. There were 229 injuries and four
deaths.
The signs will be displayed in areas where major
projects are going
on.
