George W. Hardman, 79, of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away May 6, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg.
Born in Calhoun County, he was a son of the late Frank ans Artie Cunningham Hardman. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and was retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Company. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II and was a retired Sargent First Class from the US Army Reserve Military Police. A dedicated Christian he was a member of the Beech Valley United Methodist Church and taught Bible Study at Broomstick and Norman Ridges Churches.
Surviving are his wife, Docie Ellen Frederick Hardman and a son, Nathan G. Hardman of Grantsville; daughter, Carol Sue Nicholson of Grantsville; two sisters, Jean Smith of Cortland, Ohio and Armetta Shedl of Warren, Ohio; a brother Tom Hardman of Hixon, TN; 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Audrey, Freeman, Clifford, Ronzel and Junior Hardman; and 6 sisters, Lena, Nina, Belle, Alta, Betty and Caroline.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Reverends Jack Seabolt and Rick Metheney will officiate. Interment will be in the Big Springs Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.
