Sheriff Allen Parsons assists with accident
An auto struck the rear end of a Calhoun school bus yesterday evening, after it had stopped to let children exit. None of the 25 middle and high school children nor the driver and a passenger in his car were injured.
"We were fortunate that the accident produced no injuries," said school administrator Donnie Pitts, who came to the scene.
The accident happened on Phillip's Run about three miles south of Grantsville on State Route 16.
Bus number six was traveling north on 16 shortly after school was dismissed.
Sheriff Allen Parsons said driver Brandon Sampson struck the bus, causing extensive damage to his vehicle. He said it was wedged under the school bus.
Calhoun EMS responded to the accident, with emergency workers boarding the bus to examine the children, who were later placed on another bus to continue their trip home.
