The tent caterpillars are busy eating wild cherries and domestic fruit trees. Speaking of pests, area residents are still gathering up the Asiatic beetles that were "brought in to control aphids on pecan trees." Mr. & Mrs. Fred Bish had a nice campfire over where they have their camper parked.

John Little, the water well expert, fixed the pump and cleaned the well at the Creston Community Building. He made a substantial donation on the work to the community which ws much appreciated.

Herbie Toney, the independent candidate for assessor, along with the comely Theresa, was campaigning in Creston over the weekend. They, along with Mr. & Mrs. John Little attended the Creston auction Saturday evening. Betty Wayne of Spring Valley won the Mother's Day Avon basket that was drawn at the event.

In order not to interfere with the Kentucky Headhunters concert, the Creston Community auction of donated items will be held on Saturday, June 12, starting at 4 P. M. Those who have items to donate should contact the trustees or call Donna Sue at 275-3202. Already there have been fetched in some real nice items.

Matthew Copen, Richard McFall, Bucky Arthur, Alvin & Nancy Engelke attended a training course on safety at the Marriot down at the Mouth of the Elk River.

Mr. Dexterity indicated that he was going to set up a horse farm at his place on Yellow Creek. Some thought it more of a service operation.

Rod Lynch has been having some work done on his house. He indicated that, in the meantime, he might be taking baths in the run.

Mark Ludwig has been calling on a comely local lady.

The Marks brothers have been busy mowing some Creston area lawns. Glennie Edward Arthur mowed the Russell boys' lawn after Euell's mower developed an electrical problem.

Euell Russell and Bessie Arthur were among those attending to business in Grantsville.

Bosley the Parkersburg businessman who has become wealthy on state contracts has given the maximum amount to both Junior Jackson and Broadway Joe Manchin. It was noted that he didn't give a dime to Jim Lees which would seem to indicate who can be influenced with money.

There was a large gathering of the Gast family out at the graveyard of the former Rose Hill church at the head of Beaver Dam Run.

Sam Jones was among those who took poll worker training in Elizabeth the other evening. The price of local crude fell a quarter to $34/bbl. although the price of gasoline has not reflected the drop in price. Area producers have been having great difficulty in getting oil hauled and sold. It was reported that Dominion Transmission has been having problems with balls or pigs getting stuck in some of their lines south of the local area.

It was reported that there will soon be a new "substantial" player in the deep gas business. Details are to be announced later.

Alan and Theresa Rollins were calling in Creston where Alan was doing some computer work. She was doing some campaigning for circuit clerk.

"Stymie" Plummer and Matt Copen were among those calling at the Carl Ferrell residence.

The FUNchester group attended the Apple Blossom Festival at Winchester Virginia and attended the big parade where they saw Lonnie Anderson, Chevy Chase, Quame from the Apprentice, Jerome Bennett from The Stealers and an Olympic gold medallist. Also Jessica Potter celebrated her birthday.
