Ruby Hanshaw, 81, of West Salem, Ohio, formerly of Chloe, W.Va., and Creston, Ohio, died April 26, 2004, at her home following a one-month illness.
She was born May 7, 1922, in Leatherwood, daughter of the late John and Josie Fitzwater. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Romie Hanshaw, in 1987; and four brothers, Ralph, Lee, Wallace and Zane.
She graduated from Clay County High School and attended the Advent Christian Church.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and bluegrass music.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Merelene and Roger Hooser of Wooster, Gale and Mitchel Hanshaw of Wooster, Russell and Hope Hanshaw of West Salem, Jerri and Daris Metheney of Creston, Debra and Ralph Higgins of Waterloo, Ind., Ronnie and Rebecca Hanshaw of Chloe, Sheena and Ricky Jarvis of Chloe; Larry and Jimed Hanshaw of Creston, Cheryl Hanshaw of Sterling, Diane and Ronnie Rucker of Ukiah, Calif.; two stepsons, Bill Hanshaw of Spencer, Bob Hanshaw of Ovapa; 21 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Herb West of Wallback.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Buck Mollohan officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore.
