It was bluegrass night at the Wheeling Symphony Friday evening, and Johnny
Staats and the Deliverymen were the feature performers.
Johnny Staats is a favorite mandolin player from the hills of West
Virginia, having appeared at the Grand Ole Opry and all over America.
This homegrown star has also captivated audiences around the world with his
skilled, lightning fast playing and expressive sounds.
He is well-known to Calhouners, frequently playing with local musicians.
Friday's program was dedicated to the tenure of Rachael Worby 1986 -2003.
The
Wheeling Symphony has appeared in Calhoun twice, as Lights On! sponsored
events.
