TEEN STABS STEPFATHER

State Police are investigating the stabbing death of forty-four-year-old Robert Scott Derr of Shepherdstown.

Derr was reportedly stabbed by his 18-year-old stepson in the home of Derr's estranged wife. He died in the ambulance.

Authorities believe Derr broke into the home, verbally confronting and threatening the teen. That's when the teen allegedly stabbed him.

Derr had a family protective order issued against him prohibiting him from having contact with his wife or her son.

The teen had called 911 before the stabbing to report that someone was breaking into his home.

STUDENT BRINGS GUN TO SCHOOL

A Hedgesville Middle School student has been arrested after bringing a loaded gun to school.

The 13-year-old boy from the Falling Waters area was showing the .25-caliber pistol to friends Friday.

He was charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds.

State Police say the boy claims he brought the gun by accident. The boy claims he wore his father's jacket by mistake and the gun was inside.

School officials said the student was in an altercation with another student recently and there may have been a connection.

THIRD MAN CONVICTED FOR KANAWHA MURDER

A third suspect has been convicted for his role in the killing of a Dunbar man in 2002.

Thirty-four-year-old Gary Wade Stanley Junior pleaded guilty Friday in Kanawha County to voluntary manslaughter and kidnapping.

Michael Varnado and Ulysses A. Bellamy, both 19 of Dunbar, and Stanley were charged in the death of 47-year-old Deran Mazujian.

Mazujian was beaten, stabbed and shot. His naked body was stuffed into a box and dumped over a Kanawha County hillside.
