The 51 returning members of the National Guard unit stationed in Spencer received a heroes' welcome Wednesday when they came home after a year in the Middle East.
The parking lot outside the armory was crowded with family, friends and well-wishers when two buses carrying members of Detachment 1, Co. B of the 1092nd Engineering Battalion pulled in around 1 p.m.
"I thank you, your country thanks you and the whole community has turned out to thank you," said Lt. Robert Winebrenner, commander of the local unit, just before he dismissed his men. "Everybody we took we brought back," said . . . for the full story, click The Times Record |
