If you had a few tense thoughts about the high-pitched, nagging sound of
cicadas returning to the area.
You can take a breath of relief.
We've already had our season with the insects.
The noisy insects will emerge this May, filling forests in the eastern panhandle
of West Virginia and more than a dozen states. Then they'll disappear
underground for another 17 years.
Cicadas will appear from mid-May to June in Berkeley, Grant, Hardy, Mineral,
Hampshire, Morgan and Jefferson counties.
