- A Spencer man who allegedly led a group of teenagers on a crime spree that included the theft of drugs from a veterinary office was sentenced to prison Friday.
Matthew S. Flanders, now 20, was given multiple terms by Roane Circuit Judge Tom Evans that total 3-to-25 years.
Flanders was one of four teenagers allegedly involved in a crime spree on the night of July 4, 2002.
Police say the teens broke into Cain's Veterinary Clinic and stole seven containers of cat tranquilizer which they cooked into a powder and snorted.
The same night three cars were taken from Reid's Auto Sales and police say those vehicles were used to damage the athletic field at Roane County High School. All three vehicles were eventually recovered, including two that were heavily damaged.
