Students at Calhoun Middle/High School researched and displayed projects
yesterday at a Social Studies Fair at the school.
Displays were from nine categories, including anthropology, economics,
geography, political science, psychology, sociology, state/local studies, U.S.
history, and world history.
The students worked with a partner or by themselves.
The projects were evaluated by a panel of judges. Winners from all categories
will have the opportunity to compete at the state level in May at the Charleston
Civic Center.
The intent of the fair is to recognize and reward the achievements of Social
Studies students.
Also, the Fair is intended to develop in participants an ability to use and to
appreciate the scientific method as it applies to Social Studies.
The school hopes to encourage students to draw more heavily on all areas of
Social Studies as a means of broadening and deepening their understanding of
social science concepts and principles.
Parents and students viewed the displays in the Middle School gym.
