A driver and a passenger where injured when their 2000 Ford Ranger crashed
against a tree on Little White Oak Monday evening.
The injured men, one identified as Jim Giar of Orma, were taken to Minnie
Hamilton Health Care Center after the 5:30 p.m. accident.
A spokesperson at the scene said the men did not appear to be critically
injured.
Calhoun EMS dispatched two ambulances, one from the Upper West Fork station
and one from the Mt. Zion station.
Upper West Fork VFD Chief Randy Perkins said the men managed to extract
themselves from the truck, which was heavily damaged. Perkins said the
department responded with eleven firemen and two trucks.
Deputy Sheriff Ron Bandy said the truck left the highway and went over a 15 foot
bank, striking a tree. The accident happened about one and one-half miles up
White Oak off Oka Road, he said.
