Calhoun Middle-High School will have a Social Studies Fair on March 4th. Participating students may research and display projects from nine categories, including anthropology, economics, geography, political science, psychology, sociology, state/local studies, U.S. history, and world history. The students may work with a partner or by themselves.
The students' projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges. Winners from all categories will have the opportunity to compete at the state level in May at the Charleston Civic Center.
The intent of the fair is to recognize and reward the achievements of
Social Studies students.
Also, the Fair is intended to develop in
participants an ability to use and to appreciate the scientific method as it applies to Social Studies.
The school hopes to encourage students to draw more heavily on all areas of Social Studies as a means of broadening and deepening their understanding of social science concepts and principles.
The students' parents/guardians and other members of our community are invited to view the projects in the Middle School gym from 4 to 6
p.m. on March 4th.
