Rev. Gladson Grim and Rev. Juanita Lockhart both were at the Sunday services at the Burning Springs M. E. church.

Mrs. Homer " Mug" Park noted that "Mug" did not fall on the ice but missed a step and fell. She noted that he had been very sick.

Eric Lindner who lives up Nettle Run was said to have been up in the top of a dead tree when the top fell out with him in it. The Calhoun rescue squad came along with the helicopter rescue people. At last report he was back home and, apparently, the injuries were not as severe as first anticipated.

Gaynelle Pennington, who has been having some minor ticker troubles, got to spend a little "quality time" at the hospital. She is doing better now. She noted that the 911 directions need to be drastically improved as the ambulance went off up the river instead of up Burning Springs Run where she lives.

Nancy Engelke attended a pageant in Morgantown over the weekend.

Area residents were (and remain) concerned about the County Consolidation Commission appointed by the resident clogger down at the Mouth of the Elk River. Sen. McCabe, who heads the group up, wants to consolidate Kanawha, Putnam and Cabell counties so it takes little imagination to consider what he thinks of the folks out in the hills. "Private citizen member" Steve Canterbury has done more to destroy counties with his regional jail empire than any dozen venal local politicians. Since it would appear that the group could easily be considered a "stacked deck", it is imperative that only the best candidates be elected from the local area. The time for business as usual and the taking care of family and such is long past. When this is region F, no one will care who is who in small towns along the Little Kanawha, Middle Island Creek, Spring Creek, etc.

It was reported that Deon "Bob" Sturm has returned to the area after many years. He is closely associated with Neal Rudder who operated as Rudder O & G Co., Ramco, Vacation Estates, etc. It was reported that he, the Gas Typhoon and a pipeline mogul may open up in a soon to be vacated business location.

Mark McCullough attended the Wirt County Farm Bureau meeting. He noted that there would be a meeting March 15 at the Wood County 4-H grounds to discuss the new insurance situation with the W. Va. Farm Bureau.

Carl Ferrell was doing some plumbing work for his rich aunt up in Grantsville who keeps winning the lottery.

Mr. Dexterity continues to wow the wimmen but he is keeping mum about the details. Perhaps next week there will be more to relate. Another feller tried to impress one woman but she wasn't impressed at all, even after being "showered" with gifts.

Columbia Natural Resources people continue to fret about the Roane County lawsuit. One of them noted that with the vast sum paid up front on the long-term contract, the exposure is immense. The firm has a $1 billion line of credit with a well-known bank.

While there is no drilling in the Creston area lots of hole is being made elsewhere and things are being put in motion for much more as better weather approaches. Columbia is even drilling one on the campus of Morris Harvey College (Univ. of Charleston).

Terrorists, both the "home grown" sort and the fellows who are looking for the 72 Virgins (who just might find 72 West Virginians) apparently are still busy. The mad cow disease is now in Japan and the chicken disease seems to be everywhere from Delaware to Texas, let alone in third world countries like the People's Republic of China, etc. Folks who want safe food in this area have the means to raise their own and likely, it would be best to so do should any of the Mohammedan crazies get past American anti-terror controls.
