Hoy Vineyard, 78, of Arnoldsburg died Friday, April 6, 2001, at the
home of a friend, after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 17, 1922, at Vineyard Ridge, Roane County, a son of
the late Wade and Fanny Sarver Vineyard. He was a retired employee of
General Electric, Washington, and a former employee of Monsanto,
Nitro. He was a farmer and a cattleman. He was also an Army veteran of
World War II.
Survivors include stepsons, Tommy V. Carper of Big Bend, and Randall
K. Carper of Sugarland, Texas; special friend and companion, Nell
Marie Graham of Spencer; brothers, Ross and Ralph, both of Vineyard
Ridge; sisters, Opal of Vineyard Ridge, and Gail of Maryland; eight
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Mattie Carper Vineyard; a daughter, Ellen Vineyard Drake; brothers,
Robert, Virgil and Earl.
To honor his request, there will be no service or visitation and his
body will be cremated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart
Association.
