The Little Kanawha Longbeard chapter of the National Wild Turkey
Federation (N.W.T.F.) recently attended the statewide awards banquet
held in Flatwoods. West Virginia's 28 chapters were represented at the
annual event.
The Little Kanawha Longbeards, with members from Gilmer and Calhoun
counties received recognition for their "Turkey Hunters Care" program
and brought home awards for their banquet, hosting a Juveniles Acquiring
Knowledge and Ethics of Sportsmanship (JAKES) event, 3rd place for number
of sponsor members and Brad Lay won the "Boss Bird" award presented to
an outstanding local chapter president.
The N.W.T.F. is a conservation organization dedicated to the improving
the habitat of the wild turkey and programs involving educating youth,
Women in the Outdoors, and disabled hunters.
