A second appeal to the West Virginia Supreme Court by Grantsville resident John
Richards, 39, will postpone his extradition to Washington County, Ohio, at least
for a while.
The court ruled yesterday 3-2 to delay the process, which would have Richards
turning himself over to Braxton County authorities, since the action was filed
there.
Richards is accused with the abduction of a woman and her teenage daughter at
a Reno, Ohio car wash in 2002.
Ohio authorities have been seeking the return of Richards to face the charges,
often expressing discouragement over the issue.
Richard's attorney David Karickhoff obtained the delay based on what is
generally described as technicalities.
Richards was recently indicted before a Calhoun Grand Jury for other unrelated
offenses related to receiving stolen property.
