Cold weather have you trapped indoors? Need some exercise? Henry Cooper will be starting a "Beginners Fitness Class" on January 27. The class will be held in the Strength Training room of the field house at the Middle/High School (located at the far end of the parking lot behind the Middle School). Henry is a former fitness center manager, and has had years of experience helping women and men of all ages improve their fitness levels. The class will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; there is no charge for the class. The target audience is people who would like to improve their fitness, but have never been involved with a strength training program before. To enroll, call the Lights On! office at 354-7595.

Bob Bonar has agreed to coordinate our ACT Prep class, for students who would like to improve their chances of scoring well on the ACT exam. ACT scores are a key factor in deciding who does or does not receive a Promise scholarship. They may also help determine whether a student gets into a particular college, and whether a student has to take remedial work once he or she gets to college. For all these reasons, we strongly encourage high school students to sign up for this free class, which will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, starting January 27. (Comparable classes often cost into three figures when offered by private educational services.) Students can sign up in the Lights On! office.

Thanks to Jean Simers and Pat Radabaugh, and to all the hard-working members of the committee who have volunteered to plan a celebration of three years of Lights On! activities in Calhoun County. They will be putting out publicity. I'll just say now that it will be a comprehensive, don't-miss-it event, scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Middle/High School on Saturday, May 1.

Richard Magly's very-popular "Yoga" class will be returning shortly. Call the Lights On! office to enroll. Several people who have some prior yoga experience have said that on a scale of one to ten, his class is the only ten they've ever experienced. Highly recommended! For beginners as well as for more experienced students.
