Two Braxton County sisters are dead after their home was destroyed by an
explosion and fire early Wednesday at Flatwoods.
Fire inspectors found the bodies of 49-year-old Glenda Sue Johnson and her
55-year-old sister, Nancy Johnson.
Sheriff Howard Carpenter said the fire may have been caused by a gas explosion.
The glass was blown from inside out, indicating an explosion took place.
Investigators were back at the scene again Thursday afternoon.
Roger York an assistant state fire marshal says they're not sure what caused the
blaze or even if there was an explosion. However, the two-story wood frame home
was built in 1907 and was heated with natural gas.
