Twenty-five-year-old Josh Cottrill of Shock has been taken out of Intensive Care
at Charleston Area medical center, and is listed in fair condition.
Cottrill sustained multiple injuries late Tuesday night after his vehicle struck a
tree along Euclid-Nicut Road. He was taken by HealthNet to Charleston early
Wednesday morning.(See story 1/14/04)
"He is very fortunate to have survived this," said his sister Heidi Allen of Chloe,
who reported he had a fractured femur, shattered knee cap, multiple lacerations
to the head, a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, among other injuries.
After the auto struck a tree, the collision trapped him in the vehicle. He was
discovered an hour or more later by a passerby on the rural road. Emergency
workers worked on his extraction for about 40 minutes.
The auto almost went into a creek, where temperatures were dropping below
freezing.
"We thank God for sparing him," said his sister.
