Robin Ladd of Ripley was sentenced yesterday to life in prison with mercy. Judge Thomas Evans also sentenced her to consecutive one to five year sentences for two counts of conspiracy.
Ladd had been convicted twice for the murder of her husband 47-year-old Richard Ladd. She will spend at least 17 years in jail.
Her first conviction resulted in a life sentence without the possibility of parole, which was overturned by the state Supreme Court.
Ladd was killed with a single 30-caliber rifle shot to the chest as he returned home from work. Police say the woman and a friend hired two people to kill him so she could cash in his farm and life insurance policies.
