| Arizona G. "Peggy" Layfield, 86, of Cairo departed this life Dec. 25, 2003, at Parkersburg.
Mrs. Layfield was born on March 25, 1917, near Big Bend in Calhoun County. She was a loving mother, homemaker, member of the Cairo Senior Citizens and member of the former Cairo Christian Center.
She is survived by sons, Terry, Jim, Jack and Keith Layfield, all of Cairo; daughters, Carol Stout of Petroleum and Shirley Ash of Elizabeth; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Layfield was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben S. and Margaret Jane Conley Richards; husband, Shirley Layfield; son, Robert P. Layfield; infant daughters, Gloria Jean and Ellen Sue Layfield; brothers, Ed, George, Don, Ted and Floyd Layfield; and sisters, Lillian Richards, Esta Givens, Pearl Criss and Leota Richards.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Raiguel Funeral Home, Cairo, with Pastor Tim Bell officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Memorial Park at Cairo. Friends may call from 4:30-9 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
