The public will have a chance this week to comment on natural gas increases
granted to Mountaineer Gas and Dominion Hope.
State Public Service Commission law judges granted the "interim increases" to
reflect increases in natural gas prices.
Mountaineer Gas received a 26 percent increase in September, already in
effect.
Dominion Hope received a 21.4 percent increase this month. The rate goes into
effect January First.
Spokesmen for both utilities say the increases don't represent a profit for the
companies, but cover increases of purchasing natural gas.
Doris Triplett of Fairview will file a petition with the PSC bearing the signatures of
3,000 people opposed to the hikes.
Mountaineer's hearing will be today in Parsons and Dominion Hope's is scheduled
for Thursday in Clarksburg.
