The turkey hunting Little Kanawha Longbeards have done it again, used their organization to help people in
Calhoun and Gilmer County.
The local chapter of the
National Wild Turkey Federation continues the
tradition of the Turkey Hunter's Care Program by donating turkey meat to help residents in their
community.
"This year 90 turkey breasts were purchased by the Longbeards," according to Brad Lay, chapter
president.
Community Resources Inc. distributed 82 to
families in Calhoun and Gilmer counties.
The Long
Term Care Unit of Minnie Hamilton Health Care
Center shared it's eight breasts with 77 family
members and friends of the residents.
Brad states their chapter prides
itself in giving something back to the community
where they work. In the past three years the
chapter has bought and donated 170 turkey breasts.
