UPDATE: CHARLESTON MURDER SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOLLOWING I-79 CHASE - State Police Arrest Calhoun Man On Fugitive Charge

2-9-2017 - WSAZ-TV - Two suspects were arrested Wednesday night in connection with a deadly shooting Tuesday on Charleston's West Side, Charleston Police say.

Bobby Hall and Misty Rucker were arrested in the Clay area after a high-speed chase on Interstate 79 that involved West Virginia State Police and stretched over several miles and multiple counties.

Both suspects were taken to the hospital with minor injuries suffered in a crash following the chase, according to Charleston Police.

Hall, 42, was wanted on first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of Timothy Jett, 55, of Charleston. Rucker is expected to be charged with murder and conspiracy.

Audrey Short, 38, is in critical condition at a local hospital after the shooting.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hall and Rucker were believed to be in a dark grey 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Kentucky tags. Earlier Wednesday, a $10,000 reward was offered for information leading to their capture.

State Police in Clay County report that the chase began in Big Otter, went down I-79 to the Wallback area, then to Route 36 and Route 4.

Both suspects were captured in Clay on Valley View Drive.

Clendenin Police set up spike strips, and the Jeep was eventually stopped by Roane County Sheriff's deputies and state police. Both of their cruisers were hit, and the Jeep ended up on top of the state police cruiser. No deputies or troopers were hurt, and no shots were fired.

Calhoun, Clay and Braxton authorities responded after a vehicle resembling the alert watch was reported at the Big Otter, I-79 exit.

Bobby Hall,42, and Misty Rucker, 38, were arrested in the Clendenin area after a high-speed chase on Interstate 79.

Charleston police identified the man shot and killed on Garrison Avenue as Timothy Jett, 55. Audrey Short, 38, was wounded in the shooting and is listed in critical condition. Police said Hall threatened to kill multiple officers and wanted to go "down in history."

U.S. Marshals had been called in to help with the search.

Police indicated the shooting was drug related.

Hall was charged with first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of Timothy Jett, 55, of Charleston. Rucker is expected to be charged with murder and conspiracy.

Calhoun authorities spent Wednesday afternoon searching for a man who had been reported in a domestic dispute on Nicut Road.

State Police arrested David Oscar Thomas, 56, with a Fugitive from Justice charge and took him to Central Regional Jail.

Both the State Police and the Calhoun Sheriffs Department responded at different times Wednesday to Big Bend to what appeared to be a property or civil dispute. Police returned later Wednesday after the incident reportedly was combatant.
