The theme of last week's Energy Express was “Community”. During this week the children made their communities and neighborhoods, drew pictures of different communities, and read books that revolved around the community theme.
The take home book for the older group was Cloudy With a Chance of Meatball by Judi Barrett while the younger take home book was The Magic Hat by Mem Fox. The children really enjoyed their take home books.
The can food drive that we had was a major success. We collected many cans for our local community. We greatly appreciate who all donated can /non perishable food items to our food drive. Our second community service project will take place during the last week of Energy Express. The Community Service Project that we will be doing is a site cleanup at Calhoun Middle/High School.
Our “Celebrity Reader” for the past week was Calhoun Magistrate Teresa Robinson. The children thoroughly enjoyed her reading to them.
The Open House that we had on Friday, July 23 was a major success. The children and the crowd loved the plays that we performed.
